DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
Good day everyone! This is a call special attention to an item that was in DECA Direct recently regarding the interpretation of the Professional Selling Event.
Guidelines for the 2017 Professional Selling Event Topic
Questions have been coming in concerning the Professional Selling Event topic for this year.
The topic for 2016-2017 is “you will assume the role of a sales representative of a drone technologies firm. A local real estate agent has scheduled a meeting with you because he/she has a desire to utilize drones to help his/her real estate business and wants to learn how your firm’s products and services can be beneficial to his/her business.”
Participants are not selling specific models of drones, but rather the use of drones to enhance the marketing strategies used in real estate sales. Drones are not required as part of the presentation but are allowed if it can be easily carried by the participant.
Participants should refer to the presentation guidelines for additional information.
Drone Use at ICDC
- The Anaheim Convention Center regulations restrict flying drones inside the convention center.
- Drones may not be flown outside either, due to FAA regulations and a no-fly zone in the Disney area, this includes all hotel properties.
- The camera function of the drone may be demonstrated, but the drone must stay in non-flight status.
Should you have any questions please contact Ryan_Witzig@deca.org.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Good afternoon DECA Advisors –
Many of you are busy working on your hotel needs for the upcoming state conference. I had this message from our hotel contact – please see below about when you need to communicate directly with hotel. Additionally, it will be helpful if you cc me on the email so that I can assist as well.
Have a nice day!
NOTE FROM HYATT
As of last week, Josh is no longer working here at the Hyatt. (Josh was the name and number of the person I had provided you with in earlier communication)
The best way to communicate with the hotel is to use the email set up for DECA; firstname.lastname@example.org This email is monitored by multiple people, including myself, and will keep all DECA related items in one location.

HYATT RESERVATION PROCEDURE deca
DECA Reservation Payment Form
Good day everyone! This is a duplicate of information previously sent but may be helpful if you are at the point in your chapter’s participation in the upcoming state conference to work on the hotel aspect.
KEEP IN MIND THE FOLLOWING (READ CAREFULLY)
- All reservations are made thru the state conference registration site. It is extremely important that you not only hit SUBMIT on the conference registration portion of the process but hit SUMBIT as well as the hotel portion.
- Once you hit submit, it does not go instantly to the Hyatt. ALL housing will sit in our system until registration for the conference closes. IT WILL NOT GET SENT TO HYATT until after that – so if you have changes to hotel needs prior to registration closes you will edit within the system.
- DO NOT CONTACT THE HYATT WITH ROOM CHANGES/EDITS JUST YET – not until after the conference registration has closed.
- Send your payment form/details to Hyatt when you have registered for the conference. Be certain to cc: Jackie
IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT HYATT WITH CREDIT CARD INFO ETC.
Please feel free to reach out to Josh Harp directly – #612-596-4634 or email@example.com. Please be patient for a response. It is helpful if you cc me as well so I can assist if needed!
Any questions, just ask!
Enjoy the soon to be weekend!
FUTURE CONFERENCE DATES
Some of you have inquired for future state conference dates as you look ahead to school calendars.
The next two years we are back to earlier dates – this year was different because of a city wide conference:
2018: March 4-6
2019: March 3-5
Also, mark your calendar for FLC 2017 – October 29 & 30, 2017 at the Double Tree Bloomington.
