Minnesota DECA – 2016 SCDC Judging Opportunities
TWO URGENT ITEMS THIS MORNING
We are still short judges – do you have any chaperones that could possibly judge on Tuesday finals? It would be great to add them in – please let me know.
IF YOU HAVE ANY JUDGES WHATSOVER – PLEASE HAVE THEM GO TO THE LINK AND sign Up. Remember, we are paperless – I should not be receiving forms…From there I can quickly generate emails to confirm. I get a email message whenever a new judge hits the system.
All judges will receive their email confirmations this weekend.
ADVISOR ASSIGNMENTS –
I am really struggling with filling spots so that is why you don’t have the overall grid yet – We could really use chaperones as helpers for the exam times to help monitor testing on Sunday evening and help as timers etc. with Role plays on Monday – CAN YOU HELP? I can assign with you so that you have flexibility – PLEASE HELP.
ALSO KEEP IN MIND
T-SHIRTS AT STATE
The advisor shirts as well as any chaperone shirts you ordered will be in your registration materials. The students will receive their t-shirt AFTER they go and have their photo taken at the photo lab outside of the Nicollet Ballroom. Be sure to have them bring their “student agenda/badge sheet” with for size verification After they have their photo taken they will go and redeem at the info desk. Colors are assorted – first come first serve.
REMINDER ABOUT SERIES EVENTS
Only the following may be used in Individual Series Events: 8 1/2 x 11 white paper provided by DECA, blue or black pens, pencils and 4-fumction calculators (no cell phones). All material must be created during the preparation period. No resources or work created prior to the contest time is allowed.

BLAZERS FOR ICDC
Although we need to get thru state first, I want3ed to call your attention to ordering blazers PRIOR to ICDC so you don’t have to stand in line to wait! See attached flyer!
2016 revised DECA STATE COMPETITIVE EVENT CHAIRPEOPLE
STATE CONFERENCE EVENT CHAIRS
Attached is a listing of overall event chairs – PLEASE keep in mind that this is just a partial glimpse of your daily details. A complete grid will come out hopefully over the weekend with each advisors daily assignment. Name isn’t on list? It simply means you are not the overall chair of an event. For those of you chairing events, watch for more details specific to your cluster of events.
DO YOU HAVE ANY STUDENT TEACHERS WE CAN ASSIGN? As always we need everyone!!!
The same registration system that you used to register for state is used for our scoring and tabulation system on-site at the State Career Development Conference. Please bring your login information that you used to register your chapter, as this will give you access to the system to help us with the scoring process. As an event chair, you will be “granted” to enter scores for the event that you are running. It would be very helpful that if you have a laptop computer, for you to please bring it with to the conference. We will have a wireless connection in several places in the hotel that will allow you to enter scores for competitors.
Enjoy the evening ahead.
CHAPTER GOLD CLARIFICATION
The page number requirement (85 pages) will not be penalty pointed for the GOLD CHAPTER PROJECT this year. The maximum page number requirement will be adjusted for the 2016-2017 school year to accurately reflect what is realistic. Sorry for any confusion.
Written Project Interview Instructions 2016
2016 WRITTEN EVENTS DEADLINE
DECA WRITTEN PROJECT FLASH
I know this is redundant but it is important and I want to make certain you have this info at your finger tips!
WRITTEN PROJECT INTERVIEWS
This year, there were changes to the interview portion on written projects. Please see attached information for each event pertaining to how the judges will be briefed for the interviews.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION ATTACHED
Please read carefully.
PLEASE INCLUDE A BLANK COPY OF THE COMPETITIVE EVENT CHECKLIST IN EACH PROJECT.
Please 3-hole punch a copy of the Competitive Events Checklist and insert in the very front of each project. Complete the Name of Event, and list all Participants in the project as well as indicate Chapter. This will be a tremendous time saver during the screening process. It is also included in this PDF with instructions for your convenience.
Also INCLUDE a copy of the Statement of Assurance with each project.
Remember that the various 10 page projects also need to be submitted for the screening & penalty point process.
REMEMBER, THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ALL WRITTEN PROJECTS IS FRIDAY, FEB. 26, 2016.
DECA WRITTEN PROJECT ASSISTANCE
We will once again need and welcome assistance with penalty point screening & preparing the written projects for the judges and on Thursday evening, March 3 beginning at 4:00 pm (judges are in on Friday). This will be held at the Hyatt Minneapolis in the Mirage Room. Board policy is that we strive to have at least 2 representatives from each District. Does your District have their representative lined up? The more help, the faster it goes! And it’s a time to learn more about the written projects and network with fellow advisors too. Sounds fun doesn’t it?! Please let me know if we can count on your participation. Thank you to all who have already signed up – no need to respond – I have you on the list!
IF YOU NEED TO CONTACT HYATT WITH CREDIT CARD INFO ETC.
Please feel free to reach out to Josh Harp directly – #612-596-4634 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy the weekend!
