DECA FLASH
Good day everyone!

HOTEL TAX RATE
Last week you received an email that the tax at the hotel had increased as of October 1 meaning approximately .35 difference per room from what you have probably submitted to your district officers.

If you have not redone this, please don’t take the time – MN DECA will have any of those small shortages routed to our master so that you do not have extra work on your part.  I will work directly with the hotel to make certain this happens.

SESSIONS
We are busy securing outside speakers and it looks like it will be a great slate for your students to pick from for their 2 sessions of choice on Monday.

DECA RELATED TOPICS
WE do not have but a few at this point – if you would considering sharing your expertise, we will get you slotted in but without your help, this will not be an offered at FLC e.g. specific competitive event topics.

IF YOU NEED TO PROVIDE CREDIT CARD INFO ETC. TO HOTEL
I am attaching the form once again for your convenience.

ADVISOR CODE OF CONDUCT
Remember to submit your code prior to participating in FLC.  It is kept on file for the year.

Any questions, just ask!

Enjoy the soon to be weekend!

Twin Cities Startup Week

Ms.Schiller,

Hope the school year is off to a good start!

My name is Bharat Pulgam, I am currently a Freshman at University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and honored to be the leading the effort to host this year’s first ever Student Track for Twin Cities Startup Week. TCSW’s Student Track which will occur Oct 9-15, at various locations in Minneapolis including the James J Hill Center, WeWork Minneapolis, Mall of America the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. If you recall I reached out to you back in January in regards to Twin Cities Startup Weekend.

Four years strong, Twin Cities Startup Week has taken roots in the Twin Cities and is slowly expanding into the next big entrepreneurial festival in the U.S. and now it’s time for the students of Minnesota to Flex our muscles!

Our Track, Startup Week Student is a 7 day series of events that bring together Minnesota’s most ambitious students from different domains to build their own ideas into viable businesses from start to finish in less than a week:

Here’s what our entrepreneurs can expect:

– Monday | 10/9 | Night at the Mall

– Tuesday | 10/10 | Beta.MN (Students enter free)

– Wednesday | 10/11 | Meet the Founders

– Thursday | 10/12 | Entreprenuership 101

– Friday-Sunday | 10/13-15 | Twin Cities Startup Weekend Youth

Event partners this year include: Microsoft, Thrivent Financial, US Bank, Best Buy, The Schulze School of Entrepreneurship and The Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship. We went to great lengths to ensure EVERY industry was represented in our mentor and speaker selections. Food and Ag, Tech, Software, Fashion, Marketing, Healthcare, Finance, Non-Profits. You name it, and we brought a industry expert in to work with students that may be interested in that field.

From the handpicked mentors representing leading startups in the Twin Cities, to our facilitator who works as a program leader for IBM and has led 25 Startup Weekend’s across the world, we have made certain that participants will be guided by the best and brightest from our community throughout the week.

I am reaching out to you today as you are the Executive Director at Minnesota DECA. I am hoping you would be able to communicate this fantastic opportunity with your students and forward it to any relevant staff to help spread the word.

The best way to share this event with your students is by sharing our…
